The Last Challenge ( Week # 5) before the Holiday Break

I know I am late in posting and I do appologize but I got called into work yesterday early and worked a double shift.. So here we go..

'Tis the season to be jolly - Falalalala lalalala....

This will be our last challenge because the holiday season is upon us and we know everyone is busy preparing this and that, so we will be taking a break and returning on January 6th. Special note: I will be having blog candy prizes drawn for our followers during that time - so stay tuned! ;D

This week, our darling sweet Lyn is our hostess for this challenge for our fifth week! Lyn has challenged us with a simple task: use a black base on your card, scrapbook layout, or project. We want to see something black in the background. Even though the design team has been hurdling through all sorts of activities at home, they came up with some fantastic designs to inspire you:

Although Lyn is the Queen of Goth, some of us wanted to try our hand at "Goth" - pretty cool, huh? A change of pace, I'd say! ;D It was so much fun! Here is my Take on Lyn's challenge

So, we'd like to see your black base project (card, scrap page, gift box - whatever you choose). Once you've posted your project on your blog (if you don't have a blog, just e-mail it to me and I will enter it for you) with reference to the challenge here, come back and link it to Mr. Linky. You have until Tuesday, December 22nd at 12 noon. We will announce the winner and Top 3 on December 23rd. Then we will be on holiday until January 6th with a new challenge.

Wednesday Week # 4 Challenge

I hope everyone is having a great week with today being hump day! Getting ready for the weekend? Well, get ready for this week's challenge, which is hosted by the lovely Tanisha, who was just promoted to Petty Officer First Class! Woohoo!! She's movin' and groovin'!

Tanisha challenged us with "paper piecing." For those who are unfamiliar with this technique, it is simply piecing paper to the stamped/digital image instead of coloring that portion. You can, of course, paper piece an entire image if you so choose to do so. For this challenge, we just want to see some sort of paper piecing. Here's what the talented design team has made to help you get inspired:

Challenge Week 2: Pink and Red (Valentine's)

Hello fabulous crafters!

I'd like you to welcome a new Tellen's Place Design Team member: Michelle (MEG Bee Designs), a very talented crafter who has a blog filled with lots of crafty designs that will delight you. We're so happy to have her on our team! For this week's challenge:

Lisa, our beautiful and talented DT crafter is hosting this week's challenge:

Pink and Red...a Valentine's Day theme

What an awesome color combo! Lisa wants to see what you can do with these colors. She taunted the DT with this challenge and here's what we came up with:

This is My creation this week

I hope these will inspire you to join our challenge. We have a "freebie" for you to get you started but you are free to use any image you choose.

This week's sponsor is The Creative Cottage.

The winner will get to choose one of several digital kits as her prize. You know what's great about The Creative Cottage - these are so beautiful. I didn't think I could cotton to the idea of using digital papers but a blogger friend, Donna showcased so many lovely crafts, I just had to see for myself. I love it! If you wander over to Crafter's Delight, you'll see what I've done with some of these kits.

Right now, Tracy is giving a "freebie" of her own - go check out her blog and try it for yourself! PLUS, she is giving away blog candy - talk about a hefty prize...get on over there and check it out! :) Thank you Tracy for sponsoring our third weekly challenge!

Okay, to enter the challenge, make sure you post your project on your blog with a link to Mr. Linky of that project (not the entire blog so that it's easy to find it). Please make sure you post it no later than December 9th, 6pm (PST). The DT will choose a winner and the Top 3, which will be announced at the next challenge! Wow...that's a lot.

Followers...remember, we will have a special blog candy from the divine Lisa when we reach 100 followers. In the mean time, I will be having special "follower" prizes throughout the challenges because YOU are the reason for being here! Happy Crafting

This year instead of my little pirate brigade I have Wolverine from X-men ( alas not the uber yummy Hugh Jackman), Spiderman ( Alas not Toby Mcguire either), and last but not least Darth Vader is making an appearance via my 6 year old hehehehe. I can't believe it's been 4 Years......

It is so hard to believe it has been four years today that my beautiful little boy took his own life at the age of 13 years old. It has been a long road for me to over come my anger and resentment over this.. I would never wish my pain on anyone even my worst enemy. I miss Alex more and more everyday and no one can imagine what is going on in my head.. The could of's , should of's etc etc.. But I can't spend my life that way.. If i did I would be no goof to anyone or my other children who need me.. Anyway i wanted this post to be a celebration about Alex not a downer..

When Alex was born he didn't breath for the first 5 minutes because the cord had been wrapped around his neck, but he was a fighter and he was fine and he thrived. The song I called his song was " Little Fighter" by White Lion and it sort of became an anthem for him.. When I get down I listen to that song and i think of Alex. He was a happy little boy he loved everyone.. He loved his baby brothers and he loved being a big brother. My 6 year old Brian looks just like Alex in the picture above except Brian has close cropped blond hair and the both have the same smile literally at the moment, Brian's left front tooth ( the right hand side of the pic above) has finally come in and it looks just like Alex's smile above.. I thought this picture of Alex was perfect so I made this layout yesterday of him so I could feel closer to my boy. My son Brian tells me Alex is his angel now and since I brought Alex's ashes home Brian tells me he will look out for his brother now the way Alex looked out for him and his brothers.

I miss you Alley cat and I love you so very much and I always will. I just wish I could hug and kiss you, or here your silly laugh. You had the best sense of humor and the greatest laugh. I was truly blessed to have you in my life and to be your mother. Thank you everyone for allowing me to tell you just a little bit about my son. It helps that I can talk about him. My mission in life since this has happened is to make sure no other parent ever has to go through this pain of losing their child to suicide, I try to let people know what to look for and how to help. Knowlege is power if I had known what had been happening with my son maybe he would still be here..

Today is Thanksgiving and an anniversary

Here in Canada it's Thanksgiving again I stopped celebrating 7 years ago after my mother passed away at the age of 52. So that makes the second part of my title 7 years ago today my mother passed away. It was very sudden and very unexpected. When she passed away I was 7 months pregnant with my fourth son..

I was told by my father that since I am the oldest that I had to be strong for my younger sister who coincidentally was not pregnant but extremely close to my mother. My parents had split up when I was 3 years old but they had remained friends.. So I did what my father asked and was strong for my sister, at home was different. My husband had come into the kitchen and I burst into tears he asked me what's wrong I told him that I just made a coffee and I thought how sad it was my mother would never have another coffee ever again. He hugged me and told me he loved me. He was my rock my mother's funeral was the first funeral he ever attended and he was fabulous he shook every one's hands and thanked them for coming..

I know I am rambling but it helps me through this time... My mother's death is the reason why I got into scrapbooking I wanted to create an album of her for my boys to know her you see my 3 youngest children will never know her because Andrew was only 1 year old when she passed and Brian was still in utero, and wee Christopher hadn't even been thought of yet. My mother loved her grandchildren and I wanted my boys to know that. I am just thankful that my mother and I patched up our differences before she died and I have no regrets.

I miss you mom I know you are at peace now and I love you very much

Welllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

I thought I would Participate in Urban Anthology's Got talent. I have no idea how I did but I am very pleased with the layout I did and I have gotten lots of great feedback about it. The challenge was to do a layout about my scrapbook style and also about myself. The picture I chose was of me as a little girl. Well you be the judge and let me know what you think...

Wasn't I cute little thing?? It's hard to believe but the day this picture was taken a kid had picked up a piece of concrete and hit me in my right eye if you look close you can see the mark on my eye. My mother was so upset because we were doing the family portrait thing lol... Kids will be kids I guess. Thanks for looking

The most Wonderful Time of the Yearrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

hehehe I just love that song at the end of Summer hehehe it signifies my kids are going back to school wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo..

This mommy has had enough of her children all summer long. The bugging " mom can we go to the park" " Mom can we play outside" Mom can we go swimming".. " Mom this Mom that". It was enough to test my sanity i'll tell ya.

But now the boys are back in school and I appreciate the respite I get from them everyday.. It makes me appreciate my boys even more. It gives me the alone time I need and deserve I also get to put my house back in order.

I am also in the process of helping my hubby set up his own busioness so that keeps me occupied while he's at his day job I do the phone calls and setting up of appointments and stuff like that. So he doesn't have to worry about anything. But i like to help my man out that's what it's all about right?

On another note since I am not working I get to concentrate on my obsession " SCRAPBOOKING" hehehe I am enjoying having the time toenjoy my hobby again and really apreciate the nuances and what not. I tried out for the Queen Kat Design Team don't know if I made it or not but I can always hope after all my middle name is Hope. On that note we shall see what happens I guess. I am going to post my entries for the DT tryout so you all can havbe a look I love my Hippo card it's to cute I think.

She was such a sweetheart and very loving little girl and I will miss her dearly, it took me 9 years of working with her to show her that she could trust me and that I truly loved her she was always so shy and skittish in the lazt 2 years she finally became the cat she was meant to be she was sweet and loving. Good bye my Princess Mommy will miss you dearly I love you.

Well It's A new Year

And I am finally updating my blog after lord knows how many months. Anyway 2008 was an ok year for me I was on my first design team and I loved it Thanks Hannah and Lori for giving me the opportunity to be part of such a fabulous Design Team and community.

I also got addicted to the Twighlight series by Stephanie Meyer in 2008 and what a wonderful addiction it is I just love Edward Cullen.. Just don't tell my husband that heheheh.

My son Andrew had surgery on his ears in the fall of this year and I got some cute after pics of him in the recovery room. so here are his pictures you can see his progression from being groggy to fully alert

I didn't do as much scrapping as I wanted to but I vow to make up for that in 2009. I have applied to a couple of DT's we shall see what happens I guess.
